Michael reiterated the importance of having our R&D facilities in such an innovative environment. He was enthusiastic about the new Innovation Center and reminded the guests and employees of the historical relationship between Nobian and the University of Twente. In the 1960s, Koninklijke Nederlandse Zout (Royal Dutch Salt - one of the predecessors of today's Nobian) co-founded the university.

On behalf of the University, Geert Dewulf warmly welcomed Nobian to the campus and looked forward to intensifying the cooperation.

On the occasion of the opening, Marco Waas, Nobian's Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer presented the university with a special gift. In the spirit of Grow Greener Together, Nobian is donating a tree for the garden that will soon be planted next to the Innovation Center.

To facilitate the cooperation, Bart Zwijnenburg, manager of the Innovation Center, handed over symbolic keys to the Innovation Center to Michael Koenig, Geert Dewulf and Marco Waas.

Later in the day, the opening was celebrated with a larger crowd, including Jennifer Herek, Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology. About 80 guests attended the opening ceremony. They were given a tour of the Innovation Center and enjoyed the swinging music of Big Band Straight Ahead (with R&D employee Jan Barend Westerink on trombone).
