11 September 2023

Nobian has been awarded a Platinum rating by EcoVadis for its sustainability performance, for the second consecutive year. Last year, when Nobian applied for an EcoVadis rating for the first time, it was also awarded a Platinum rating by Ecovadis.

EcoVadis is the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. Nobian scored 80 out of 100 points, thereby maintaining its position in the top 1% of the more than 90,000 companies rated by EcoVadis worldwide.

Very strong scores maintained and significant improvements
Driven by its ambitious “Grow Greener Together” program Nobian aims to become carbon neutral by 2040, with 100% renewable electricity. For its annual application, Nobian achieved a very strong and further improved score across all criteria assessed by EcoVadis. Clear and significant improvements were made in Procurement and Ethics, while the high scores in Environment and Labor & Human Rights were maintained.

Marco Waas, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer at Nobian: “This achievement shows that we have a strong foundation of policies, governance, actions and results in place to meet our ambitious 2030 and 2040 sustainability goals. Staying at the top is always harder than getting there. This result gives us even more motivation to maintain our sustainability performance and make our business ever more sustainable”.

Being awarded the Platinum Medal for the second year in a row validates and demonstrates Nobian’s commitment to sustainability. Supporting its Grow Greener Together mission, this is an important step towards becoming one of Europe’s most sustainable chemical companies.

Grow Greener Together
Nobian’s “Grow Greener Together” sustainability approach is based on the three pillars of Climate, Circular and Care. Having already reduced its carbon footprint by 40% since 1990, the company is now stepping up its efforts, striving to become one of the most sustainable chemical companies in Europe. To help achieve this goal, Nobian has set a strong and challenging target to become carbon neutral by 2040, ahead of the Paris agreement, with 100% renewable energy.

Evidence based reporting
Nobian is committed to continuously monitoring and managing its own sustainability performance and that of its partners. Nobian has participated in the EcoVadis rating process to ensure evidence-based reporting and to transparently drive decarbonization across its operations and value chain. In addition, Nobian is committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and has enrolled for CDP global disclosure system for environmental transparency and action.
