Salt products

Our product portfolio starts with high-purity vacuum salt, from which we produce chlorine, caustic soda and hydrogen, as well as other derivatives such as chloromethanes, hydrochloric acid and ferric chloride. Our production capabilities enable us to supply high-quality products to a wide range of markets including chlor-alkali, chlorate, textile, oil and gas, and water softening. 

We produce around six million tons of salt per year at our three salt production sites: our plants in Delfzijl and Hengelo in the Netherlands, and our Mariager site in Denmark. Nine of the 25 most important chlor-alkali industry clusters in north-western Europe depend on Nobian salt. 

Industrial salt

We produce solution mined salt, which is one of the purest salts available on the market. Our high purity vacuum salt is ideal for chemical applications and a wide range of materials used in many essential products. Nine of the 25 top chlor-alkali industry clusters in north-west Europe depend on Nobian’s salt. Salt is needed to produce the sustainable technologies of the future and to help make our world a little greener. 

Our salt is produced with a minimum of 99.9% NaCl, which eliminates the need for further purification steps, ensures high-quality end products, and protects valuable equipment such as membranes.

Road salt

Our vacuum road salt differs from other de-icing salts such as rock salt and sea salt, because of its purity, which enables it to adhere well to road surfaces. Due to its  unique grain size, less salt is needed per square meter and the small grains ensure a faster de-icing effect compared to coarser salt. 

We supply road salt to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Other regions can be served.
