With our industry-leading technology at the start of the chemical value chain, we have the opportunity to significantly reduce the carbon footprint in the whole chain. We support the transition towards green chemistry and green products, driving sustainability throughout the product chain.
By producing more flexibly, we can increase or decrease the amount of electricity that we use. In this way, we can help stabilize the power grid and better balance supply and demand. We optimize the use of sustainable energy by reducing load when there is little or no solar/wind and increasing load when solar/wind power generation is abundant. We will use flexible generation (E-flex) to mitigate risk through active market and asset optimization, reduce energy costs and contribute to grid stability, CO₂ reduction and the energy transition.
An essential part of our approach to sustainability is bringing products to market with the lowest possible impact on the environment. Green hydrogen is increasingly important in the energy market, playing a key role in the decarbonization of our industry and the target of achieving net zero targets by 2050. Hydrogen can be used for mobility, as an energy carrier or as a raw material for new forms of green chemistry. As a result of the growing demand for green and renewable hydrogen, the need for hydrogen storage facilities will also increase.
